Tap and Pay is new card technology that uses an embedded chip and aerial which emits payment details safely and securely without your card needing to leave your hand.
You can use your Tap and Pay Card wherever you see the Visa® payWave® symbol (locally and internationally). After the cashier has rung up the amount to be paid, simply tap your card within 4cm of the Point Of Sale device.
Tap and Pay is available at big retailers such as Pick n Pay and Mr Price, to name a few, and with new stores being added all the time.
The industry limit for each Tap and Pay transaction, without a PIN, is currently R500 but this might be less for certain retailers.
No, Tap and Pay cards can be read only by Point of Sale machines that are Tap and Pay enabled.
Tap and Pay increases security as you don't have to hand your card over to someone to swipe, dip or enter your PIN.

Yes. The Tap and Pay, without a PIN, function can be turned off, via the mobile app or by calling our Client Service Centre on 0860 222 252. This means that all card transactions will always require a PIN.
